Hi Stubbs,

Thanks for getting this site started. I am working on growing my nails out. They look pretty good, but I still want to go after them at times. Your suggestions in the book helped me relax and refocus. I still spend time grooming my nails, but at least I'm using the right tools instead of my teeth. It makes a big difference. I am hoping to learn and share here. :)

OK, so I have a good idea that I just started and it seems to be working. Do this process daily for a few months or however long it takes. Here:

1. soak nails in 1 cup of vegetable oil or canola oil.
2. rinse nails (no soap)
3. dry nails
4. put on "Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails"
5. put on "Thum" (bad tasting polish)
6. let dry
7. wash hands with soap
8. put on lotion (opt.)

P.S. The brands in this are important: USE THEM, THEY WORK!!

I tried Mavala STOP(horrible tasting), but the taste transfers to anything you touch - for up to two days :( I made hamburgers and they tasted like that stuff. Any other product suggestions?

what does the cup of vegetable or canola oil do for your nails?

well it strengthens them and it makes them feel really clean and it makes your nails reflect water so when you unconsiously start to bite your nails, you will immidietly notice.

Has anyone else been to this website? I am always skeptical, but it's worth a shot, right?

Short Video on How to Stop Nail Biting

There is a short video with some worthy advice on reducing stress as a way to quit nail biting. I posted on the Quit Nail Biting Now blog. Of course, I had to put in my two cents on why simplistic advice, even with good suggestions and intentions, is far from enough to gain mastery over the devilishly hard process of learning how to stop nail biting permanently.

Perfection, Reality and Honesty

If the world were perfect, no one would bite their nails. We would all be some kind of fictional characters with no problems or physical deficiencies. Well, we know that is not accurate, or even close to being so. The same is true when it comes to conquering nail biting. It is an uphill battle to fight off the impulses we have lived with for years.

I have a discussion I just posted here. It is about my book now being available in paperback. I hope you will give it a try as I sincerely believe i… Continue
